Words fall on deaf ears,

no longer heard is your tread.

Here you lie in bed.

Silver coin in palm,

front face divided in four.

Fingers close over.

Day one of ninth month;

oatmeal-white on rosy red,

orange in green furled.

Palms pressed together,

eyes lowered to reality.

We fled to the stars.

Come dressed in all black,

for a mountain adventure.

Feet point to city.

Suns warmth on bones,

limbs stretching to enjoy it.

Trackless now of time.

Yellows, red and blues.

All shades of black, grey and rust.

Lips play with a smile.

Give nothing away;

silence laid down low as mine,

sleeping in my sleep.

Together we walked,

in silence we stood for hours.

Heart within a heart.

Tired and road weary,

day on day now month on month.

Eyes close and I’m home.
